देहरादून:  स्वतंत्र भारत के प्रथम गृहमंत्री और स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के नायक सरदार वल्लभभाई पटेल की 70वीं पुण्यतिथि के अवसर पर आज उत्तराखंड प्रदेश कांग्रेस मुख्यालय में प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष प्रीतम सिंह सहित अन्य पदाधिकारियों और कार्यकर्ताओं श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की।

इस अवसर पर सरदार पटेल के योगदान को याद करते हुए प्रदेश अध्यक्ष प्रीतम सिंह ने कहा कि एक स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी के रूप में सरदार पटेल की भूमिका इतिहास में जिस तरह दर्ज है। उससे ज्यादा सुनहरे अक्षरों में आजाद भारत के तमाम रियासतों और प्रांतों को भारत में विलय करने व भारत को एक मजबूत राष्ट्र के रूप में स्थापित करने में सरदार की भूमिका दर्ज है। जिसके कारण वो लोगों के दिलों में हमेशा जीवित हैं।

प्रदेश कांग्रेस उपाध्यक्ष सूर्यकांत धस्माना ने कहा कि सरदार पटेल कांग्रेस के दिग्गज नेताओं में शुमार थे। वे पंडित नेहरू से उम्र में भी काफी बड़े थे किंतु देश के गृहमंत्री की जिम्मेदारी जब पंडित नेहरू ने उनको सौंपी तो उन्होंने यह साबित कर दिया कि वे देश की किसी भी जिम्मेदारी को निभाने के पूर्ण रूप से काबिल हैं। धस्माना ने कहा कि नेहरू और सरदार को जोड़ने वाली सबसे महत्वपूर्ण कड़ी महात्मा गांधी थे। जिनका दोनों नेता बहुत सम्मान करते थे। इसीलिए कुछ मतभेद होने के बावजूद सरदार पटेल हमेशा पंडित नेहरू का प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में पूरा सम्मान करते थे।
